Extract from the Area Dean's Foreword: "Finchampstead and California find themselves looking for a new Rector at an interesting time in their journey, following Reverend Leonard’s sudden but natural death in March 2023. He arrived in the aftermath of the pandemic and, having found his feet, was beginning to help the parish imagine the future. The leaders of the parish have rallied together with great commitment and strong mutual support in these last months, working hard to help everyone work through their grief. And now the parish is looking for a Rector to pick up the baton and help them move forward again." (Full letter in the Parish Profile.)
The nearest town is Wokingham, equidistant from the M3 and M4 motorways, with a mainline train service to London Waterloo. Wokingham has a good selection of shops, restaurants, cafés, and branches of all the major supermarkets. The town has regularly been listed as one of the top five places to live in England. There are 2 large NHS hospitals about 10 miles away.
