It includes sparsely populated rural communities, county towns and the commuter belt on the fringes of the capital.

The Bishop of Buckingham is the Rt Revd Dr Alan Wilson. Bishop Alan has served in the Diocese of Oxford since 1979 and has been Bishop of Buckingham since October 2003. Before that he was rector of Sandhurst and area dean of Sonning.

The Buckingham area is divided into ten deaneries: AmershamAylesburyBuckinghamBurnham & SloughClaydonMilton KeynesMursleyNewportWendover and Wycombe.
