Yellow Braces 2024

Yellow Braces is the long-running diocesan youth festival. It is a weekend of fun, malarkey, activities, food and engaging with Christianity, faith and life.

Yellow Braces runs from 12-14 July. This year we return to the cosy wooden ‘yurts’ at the Adventure Base at Clanfield, the home of Adventure Plus.

There's something for everyone – games, crafts, challenges and competitions. There are also regular sessions of worship, and we look at what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

Taize

17–25 August 2024

This summer, travel to Taizé in France with young adults from across the Diocese of Oxford and join thousands of others from around the world in community, worship and prayer.

You’ll experience a wonderful sense of freedom, prayer and community. There’s nothing compulsory about Taizé, but it’s not a holiday resort.

Download the leaflet to find out more, and read what people say about the experience.

Please do be in touch with Bishop Olivia if you have any questions - you can email her at bishopreading@oxford.anglican.org.

Spiritual development

Your own spiritual nurture is of paramount importance as you spiritually accompany children and young people.

Contemplative Toolkit(s) and training

Contemplative Toolkits are our way of supporting the spiritual nurture of children and young people through easy access contemplative practices in schools, at home and in church groups and worship. The core practices of Stilling, Noticing, Dwelling, Mending and Blessing are developed from mainly Ignatian Spiritual practices.

Take a look at Space Makers: The Contemplative Toolkit for Schools and Churches, and enjoy this sneaky peak of the Noticing exercise in the forthcoming Contemplative Toolkit for Families.

Oxfordshire Godly Play Network

All are welcome to join Godly Practitioners who meet a few times a year. Please contact group coordinator Carol Carter.

Learning opportunities

Various courses for any interested learner are available through Oxford Diocese Lifelong Learning programme.

Other sources of training and development

Consultancy, mentoring, support and bespoke training

There are a team of Discipleship Enablers attached to each of the Archdeaconries. They also hold specialisms across youth work and ministry, children’s and family ministry, and partnership with schools. They would be delighted to hear from you.
