New premises for St Mark’s Meals in Milton Keynes means all elements of the charity can come under one roof.
The project held a packing party recently to show people the new premises in Milton Keynes and help pack up meal boxes for hungry families.
Esther Thorpe, Visual Storyteller and School Partner Engagement Coordinator, explained: “The packing parties are opportunities for both local businesses and schools themselves to come and volunteer their time to pack meal boxes with us.
“The space is now a vibrant place to welcome our supporters and partners to see what we're doing and help us make up meal boxes. We pack and deliver roughly 1,500 meal boxes to local schools each term, to give children a meal who would otherwise be going to bed hungry.
“The space has enabled us to have all storage, packing and office space to be under one roof, which is incredible for us as a team and practically saving us time and improving the logistics of running a charity like ours.”
St Mark’s Meals is a charity run by the church, delivering meals to children in schools across Milton Keynes. The church has developed five different meal kit boxes, which includes all the ingredients needed as well as recipe and straightforward instructions.
Earlier this year the Development Fund made a grant of more than £50,000 towards the new premises which were officially opened by the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Cllr Marie Bradburn.
