Accompanied discernment

'Mission is finding out what God is doing and joining in’

This well-known quote is simple to say, but experience shows that in our churches discerning where God is at work is not straightforward, takes time and requires us to develop new skills.

Partnership for Missional Church (PMC) supports the local church in:

  • discovering how we partner with God in mission;
  • being in tune with God’s dreams and desires for our local communities – mission ‘with’ people, rather than mission ‘to’ or ‘for’ others;
  • making the deeper and long-term changes we need to realise God’s preferred and promised future for our church’.

This process takes time and includes a combination of practical action and engagement with our communities, all the time rooted in vital spiritual and missional practices and a new attentiveness to God in scripture.

As a church you will journey through stages of listening, experimenting and focussing. And you don’t journey alone as PMC works best when a small group of churches travel together as a cohort.
