Breaking: Goddard amendment passes at General SynodThe Bishop of Oxford says:"I am very pleased that the Church of England has agreed to disinvest from fossil fuel companies not in line with the Paris Climate Change Agreement in 2020 and to complete that disinvestment by 2023 at the latest if they are not prepared to align their plans with the Paris Agreement and a carbon zero future. That is a considerable step forward.

Our thanks to the General Synod members and agencies who supported the amendment.

We will continue to press for more rigorous assessment criteria within the Transition Pathway Initiative and to encourage the National Investment Bodies in their urgent and robust engagement. " Bishop Steven's speech to General Synod Words of the Goddard amendment (passed):
