Festival of Sciences at St Peter & St Paul, Great Missenden

AFTER last year’s success, St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Great Missenden is planning another festival during British Science Week this March. The aims are to celebrate the joy and beauty of the sciences and to give thanks for and celebrate the lives and contributions of scientists and engineers.

Science and faith are often seen as being in conflict. The festival hopes to answer some of the questions relating faith to the sciences – or at least raise them. It also hopes to address the view held by many that the

sciences are not for them by showing the beauty and wonder of things scientific.

Last year’s festival was actively supported by The Misbourne School – the picture shows one of the students showing the Global Warming display to the Bishop Alan, Bishop of Buckingham. It is hoped that school participation will be greater this year with other local schools involved or visiting. Displays will range widely from showing the church bells to statistical paradoxes, from solar energy to bee handling and the impact of bees on crops worldwide.

The festival runs from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th March at St Peter & St Paul, Great Missenden, HP16 0BA.
