The incumbent Christopher Woods writes:
"A curacy at St Barnabas Jericho and St Thomas the Martyr would offer you a distinctive and enriching opportunity within a vibrant Anglo-Catholic parish in a fascinating and multi-layered community in the heart of Oxford. The parish combines tradition and imagination, liturgical beauty and social engagement, theological depth and pastoral care. Jericho is a unique, self-sufficient and dynamic community.
"You would experience the richness of traditional Catholic Sacramental worship—daily offices, weekly Solemn Mass, and regular midweek liturgies—accompanied by uplifting music and careful liturgical formation. You would be supported in preaching, teaching, and leading worship, with ample opportunity to develop your voice and presence. You would be nurtured and supported by kind and warm parishioners and a friendly PCC.
"This is a socially mixed parish with strong historical community ties, offering pastoral opportunities across a diverse demographic: from university students and young professionals to elderly residents, and a small number of families, and children. You would work closely with the Church of England Primary School, particularly in delivering Collective Worship and supporting RE.
"We are open to fresh thinking and creative outreach: our broad charism is contemplative action arising out of sacramental nurture. There are opportunities to explore mission, interfaith dialogue, and new ecclesial expressions.
"Above all, I hope you would be formed in joy, beauty, prayer, and service—encouraged to flourish in faith, priestly confidence, and holiness."
