The Bishop of Dorchester has paid tribute to the Revd Jim Spence, 88, whose body was found today after an extensive search of the Wallingford area.

The police had earlier in the day appealed for help to find Jim and a Facebook group was set up to share any information about his whereabouts. The Rt Revd Colin Fletcher said:

"We were deeply saddened by the news of the death of the Revd Jim Spence.

He was a faithful clergyman and was well known and loved as the Vicar of Greyfriars, Reading, and more recently as an Honorary Assistant Priest in Wallingford.

He had a long and distinguished career and will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time."
