Parish officers who require training in the Diocese of Oxford’s new recommended DBS check system can now sign up for online sessions.
Verifile, which was chosen as our recommended provider for DBS checks at the end of last year, is running training for users at parish level throughout February.
We thank you for your patience during this process and regret any inconvenience caused by the switch of recommended providers, which followed last August’s data breach.
The first three online training sessions are on:
- Monday 2 February, 11.30am
- Wednesday 11 February, 2.30pm
- Wednesday 18 February, 1pm
We appreciate that parish level users will be keen to get trained as soon as possible. However, places are limited, so please consider only signing up for one of these three sessions if you have DBS checks that are outstanding or imminent.

We are providing more sessions in the coming weeks and months for those without an urgent need.
To make training easier to access, one of the upcoming sessions will be recorded to be used for future training.
To start using Verifile, please remember to complete and return the adoption agreement as soon as possible and return it to dbscheck@oxford.anglican.org.
User accounts and login details will soon be available to parishes who have returned completed adoption agreements.
Some parishes have been in touch with us to request additional information regarding the master agreement between ODBF and Verifile.
We are in the process of producing an overview of the key clauses of the agreement which will be made available in due course.
Please note that although Verifile are our preferred providers, you are not required to use them. If you have existing arrangements with other providers and wish to continue, you are free to do so.
You may also pursue new arrangements with other providers despite previously using the same provider as the diocese. This is entirely a matter for each PCC.
