The Diocesan Synod met on 16 November 2013. The Synod met the new Diocesan Chancellor , the Revd Alex McGregor, and said goodbye to the Revd Canon Dr Rupert Bursell QC who has retired. The Synod heard presentations on Credit Unions and the Church, and approved a motion affirming credit unions, encouraging church members to support them, and urging parishes to publicise credit unions.

The Synod also heard a short presentation by Canon Bruce Gillingham on the work to alleviate debt led by a group of churches in East Oxford. After coffee the Synod approved the budget for 2014.

The Synod noted that Brian Newey is stepping down as Chair of the Board of Finance.

His successor will be the Revd John Tattersall.
