Petertide Ordinations

Bishop Olivia and new Reading are Priests stand smiling outside Reading Minster.32 ordinands were ordained priest in five services across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June.

The new priests of all different ages, come from all walks of life and parts of the world. Among the men and women, they include those who have been involved in the Church for many years and those who came to faith later in life, as well as a former police officer, foreign office diplomat, radiographer, and scuba diver. Read their biographies in the story we published last year for the Deacons' ordinations.

Following the restrictions of the pandemic in the past two years, the services were a special and joyous occasion, for family and friends of the ordinands to gather and celebrate together. The services were filled in Reading, Dorchester, Aylesbury, and Oxford.

In Aylesbury, friends of the Revd Rainah Madzorera led a joyful moment of spontaneous song and dance with Bishop Alan after the service.
