St Alban’s Church Hall has become one of the first in the diocese to have an air-to-water heat pump installed.
The installation was funded by a £7,500 government grant as well as £2,850 from the diocese’s Net Zero Quick Wins Fund. An air-to-water heat source pump uses the outside air as well as electricity to heat water and your home/building.
The Revd Martha Weatherill, vicar at Cowley St John explained: “An energy audit by the diocese recommended the heat pump installation as a key step in reducing our carbon footprint. We are grateful for the support provided by the Archdeacon, diocesan buildings team, and Liz Kitch throughout the process.”
She added the process to install the pump was straightforward and took just four days.
Martha concluded: “We are very happy to share our experience and lessons learned, and would gladly connect with other churches considering similar sustainability improvements.”
