Research shows that a very high proportion of the population has suffered unwanted sexual attention in childhood. Sadly, abusers have included clergy and other people in church roles as well others in authority.
The church has not always responded well to the needs of survivors. However, we along with other dioceses, have now recruited a team of listeners who can offer a listening service to those who want it.
We have produced two pamphlets, one for survivors and one for listeners and a poster.
(two styles of each)
If you know of someone who might benefit from this service do feel free to encourage them to contact the diocesan Safeguarding adviser John Nixson.
