The Acting Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Revd Colin Fletcher, said: "Having just heard the news that the Prime Minister is to stand down, I'd like to pay tribute to his courage in making this difficult decision.
As our Prime Minister for six years, and of course one of our local MPs, I'd ask you to keep him in your thoughts and prayers."
