Prayer on Sundays

SUNDAY 1
Gracious God, you call us to serve you in many ways, employing our gifts and talents to build up your church and minister to your people. We give you thanks today for those to be appointed Honorary Canon and admitted into the Order of St Frideswide: for their faithful ministry thus far, for all they have done for you, for all that they are to their communities. Bless them this day with the knowledge of your love and the renewal of your calling, and send them out in your company to love and serve your world; through Jesus Christ, the pattern of our calling, who came not to be served but to serve.
For all those being confirmed by Bishop Mary at Wellington College in Berkshire.

SUNDAY 8
Heavenly Father, as we come before you, we thank you for the opportunity to be part of the Body of Christ. On Racial Justice Sunday, teach us to show no partiality, to embrace our brothers and sisters of all nations, to delight in the diversity of your creation, and to be united in faith. May we be guided by your wisdom and encouraged by your love as we seek to love others as you love us.
For all those being confirmed by Bishop Steven at St Mary’s in Kidlington, as well as those being confirmed by Bishop Graham at Emmanuel Church, Bicester.

SUNDAY 15
As this month’s General Synod concludes the Living in Love and Faith process, we give thanks for all those who have contributed and pray for the next steps.

SUNDAY 22
Scouts and Guides worldwide celebrate World Thinking Day today. Today is the 100th year…
God of wisdom and compassion, who calls all peoples into fellowship and understanding; grant that on this World Thinking Day we may lift our hearts and minds beyond ourselves, seeking the flourishing of every child and every community. By your Holy Spirit, inspire us to listen deeply, to act justly, and to walk gently upon the earth. Unite us in hope, strengthen us in service, and make us signs of your reconciling love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
