Engaging with God’s Word

Location: Derbyshire Suite, 9.15am

Our Bible studies at this year’s conference explore three remarkable stories of conversion in adjacent chapters of the Acts of the Apostles. Luke has lessons to teach the whole church on the spread of the gospel, the ways in which people come to faith, the role of the Holy Spirit and the roles of three remarkable ministers: Philip, Ananias and Peter, who are called, chosen and commissioned for this ministry.

The passages and themes will be:

  • Acts 8.26-40: Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch
  • Acts 9.1-19: Ananias and the Conversion of Saul
  • Acts 10: Cornelius and the Conversion of Peter

The second and third readings will be followed by a time of reflection in small groups, and questions are offered to guide your conversation.

Space for your own notes, along with questions for your small group to discuss, can be found in your programme.

Archbishop Howard GregoryClosing Eucharist with Keynote Address

Location: Derbyshire Hall, 11.30am

Preacher: Archbishop Howard Gregory, Former Archbishop of the West Indies

Archbishop Howard Gregory draws from a rich and varied ministry experience spanning more than a half century.

As the Archbishop reflects on what it means to be ‘commissioned’, expect insights gained whilst serving as a university chaplain, an academic theologian, a warden of a theological college, a diocesan bishop and latterly Archbishop of the West Indies.
