Come and See

A dark blue line drawing shows Jesus outstretching his arm. Text reads Come and See, the words getting more and more in focus.

Come and See is our big, warm open invitation to an adventure in faith and trust.

It’s for everyone in the local church and the whole community. It's free of charge, and all are welcome.

What is Come and See?

Each Lent, we delve into a new aspect of Christian faith, from the Creed to the Commandments, and everything in between. It's perfect for new and old Christians alike, and can be done on your own, as a family, as a church, school or in a small group.

What does it involve?

Everyone who registers receives a short daily email to reflect on, and a weekly video from Bishop Steven exploring the themes in a bit more detail.

There are special materials for children and young people, with a weekly email featuring video messages on the same theme - one for primary-aged children and the other for those in secondary school.

Church organisers get everything in advance, alongside a special leader's guide.

I'm in, how do I sign up?

The theme for 2025 is Earth, Water, Wind and Fire - Understanding Baptism. Registrations will open late December, so stay tuned. We'll let you know via eNews, so make sure you're subscribed!

Your local parish might also be running Come and See in their services, in small groups or in another way. Check in with your vicar or small group leader and let them know now that you'd be interested in a local Come and See group.

You can also check out past years at any point on the Oxford Diocesan Learning Hub, and journey through the video reflections online in your own time.

What do people think?

We've just completed our fourth year of Come and See. Over the years we've learned that once people sign up for Come and See during Lent, they stay.

"The Bishop's language and imagery in the films was excellent and worked extremely well for us, a group of people in their 20s.”

"The videos with text were brilliant. Loved the gentle rhythm of the daily reflections."

"The leader's notes and suggestions for conversation worked well, especially helpful as I was new to leading a small group."
