Jamaica and the Cayman Islands Appeal

Bishop of Oxford’s Advent Appeal

Jump to... Share the appeal | How to donate

In 2024, we set up a new diocesan link partnership with the Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. In October, Jamaica was hit by Hurricane Melissa, which affected thousands of people. Four churches have been destroyed, and a number of other churches and schools have suffered significant damage.

Read Bishop Leon Golding’s letter to his diocese, and hear him speak about the devastation in a short video.

We are committed to supporting our partners in mission at this difficult time. We have already made a significant donation from the Bishop of Oxford’s Outreach Fund, and we now hope that the whole diocese will join with us in supporting our siblings in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands in our Advent Appeal.

How can I help?

The Bishop of Oxford’s Advent Appeal 2025 is for the Jamaica and the Cayman Islands Diocesan Disaster Relief Fund.

How to donate

In this, we form part of a wider effort. Diocesan staff in Jamaica are already working hard to coordinate relief for those in immediate need. Within our existing relationship with the diocese, we are able to ensure that our gifts of money are directed towards the best possible use in the diocese’s relief and rebuilding effort. Funds may be used for the relief of immediate needs amongst those injured or left homeless; and for the rebuilding programme for diocesan property across Jamaica.

You can give money at any time until the end of December, via:

  • Our dedicated stewardship page
  • Transfers to the diocesan bank details

Thank you so much.

Hear from Bishop Leon
