Judy French has been Archdeacon of Dorchester since June 2014, supporting the churches and parishes of the county of Oxfordshire (with the exception of the city of Oxford). She assists the Bishop of Dorchester and works particularly closely with clergy, churchwardens and staff of the Diocese of Oxford.

Judy is currently also supporting the Oxford Diocesan Council for the Deaf and hard of hearing, the diocesan Development Fund Panel, and chairs the Group of Advisers for Self-Supporting Clergy.

Previously, Judy served as assistant Archdeacon to the Archdeacon of Oxford, area dean of Chipping Norton Deanery, and for 17 years as vicar of Charlbury with Shorthampton in west Oxfordshire.

Judy was among the first women to be ordained priest in 1994 and served as curate in Rugby (Coventry Diocese) and in Botley (Portsmouth Diocese). Before ordination, Judy worked in clerical admin roles in a life assurance company and for Portsmouth City Council.

Judy has a small adorable dog as incentive for regular walks and family in the USA and Singapore as a lure for exotic holidays.
