TEENAGE bell-ringers from the Oxford Diocese came second in the Ringing World National Youth Competition.

After the final, there was a competition for the best team picture.
Here are our young ringers having fun posing for the camera.
They were delighted when they also won the Trophy for Excellence as the top change ringing band. The ringers, all aged under 19, had met every month at a different church with the hope of being selected to represent the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell-ringers.
;The ringers were from Abingdon, Reading, Newbury, North Buckinghamshire and other towns and villages. The day, in London, included handbell workshops, a treasure hunt, and ringing in different bell towers.
More than 200 young ringers made up 22 teams of eight from all over the country. Susan Read, from the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Bellringers, said: "Our heat, at noon, was at Christ Church, Cubitt Town. We needed all the time we had allowed to get there on the DLR.
Then off to St Magnus the Martyr, London Bridge to ring bells, eat lunch and wait for the results. " The team got through to the final, which took place at St James, Garlickhythe. After a contest for the best team picture, the ringers went back to St Mary le Bow, Cheapside where they learned that the Sussex Young Ringers had come first.
"We had come second overall and earned the RWNYC Trophy for Excellence as the top change ringing band. This was a fantastic achievement and a wonderful day out," added Susan.
