Churches across the diocese and beyond have continued to share their creative ideas throughout the pandemic.
In recent months, many have turned to outdoor events to share a message of hope with their communities. One such church is St Michael and St Mary Magdalene's in the parish of Easthampstead.
Their outdoor prayer stations proved such a hit over Easter, they are now relaunching them for Pentecost. When they sadly closed their church doors in January, the congregation rallied together to create weather-proof boards for a prayer trail through the churchyard.
Realising they couldn't safely offer their usual Easter experience to the local primary schools, the stations were remade, offering a huge range of interactivity for the community to enjoy.
Revd Carol Dunk says,
"Myself, a retired priest friend, Revd Roy, and our very gifted tech team decided to film key moments from Holy Week, including props, music, a puppet etc.There are new stations already in the works for Pentecost and ordinary time, with a creation and 'eco-feel' to them both.We sent the film off to the schools, along with downloadable interactive booklets with a quiz, puzzles, baking, craft, signing, to take part in if you want, either at home or in school.
They and anybody else are able to walk in the churchyard along the route and with a smartphone they can scan the QR code to see the appropriate video to the prayer station.
There are also brief reflections, images and appropriate bible verses on each of the eight, in case people haven't got the technology.
It is suitable for all ages. "
