Primary Headteachers Performance, Resilience & Support 2017 – 18 Day 2

MAIN PROGRAMME

Following the success of the Performance, Resilience and Support Programmes previously, we are currently leading several courses this year that enable all school leaders attending to pause and reflect on their personal professional journey and spiritual leadership as well as sharing strategies for coping with the challenges of headship. As a Diocese, we continue to be committed to this work and to providing this opportunity for more heads.

This ‘main’ programme is for those headteachers new to our Performance, Resilience and Support courses and consists of three full days that take place across the year. This support is continued for headteachers by them moving on to our ‘core’ programme the following year. Some headteachers have been working with these programmes for three years and are committed to continuing because they regard them as critical to their well-being as they carry out their challenging role.

We aim to make these all a time of personal development and renewal for all who attend.

Feedback from Headteachers attending our programmes includes:

“Best course of the year – a real highlight.”

“I think this course should be compulsory for all headteachers for their well-being”

“I arrived as tightly coiled as a spring and left with a better sense of perspective and reassurance

Head Teacher Recruitment & Succession Planning

Appointing a new Head Teacher is probably the most important task that a governing body undertakes. There is a considerable body of evidence indicating that the quality of a school’s head teacher is the single most significant factor in its success. Appointing a high-quality head to lead teaching and learning in your school is something under the direct control of Governors that positively affects school improvement.

During this session we will be looking at:

  • Steps in the Head Teacher recruitment process
  • Defining your school’s needs
  • Attracting the best candidates
  • Selection
  • Appointment
  • Induction

AND considering the questions and actions governors can take to sustain effective leadership over time.

Course Leaders: Eileen Northey/Chris Price – Smith

Cost: SLA schools: £45, or as part of Excellence in Governance package: £499 (10 modules over 2 years, 3 Gov.s per module)
