Human Resources & Safeguarding

The Human Resources and Safeguarding department combine clergy and lay functions to enable the diocese to develop and effectively execute its strategy while meeting the needs of employees, clergy and other stakeholders.

The HR team is a support function that deals with people and is here to help.  We support and develop managers dealing with ‘people issues’ across the breadth of the employment relationship – from recruitment and selection, training and development, concerns and issues, legal compliance, well-being and best practice.  Additionally we also provide signposting and first line support to our parishes regarding employment matters.

The Safeguarding team are committed to responding to safeguarding concerns, providing advice if you are not sure what to do, and supporting survivors in an efficient and effective way.

Poli Shajko, Director of Human Resources & Safeguarding heads up this function and is overall accountable for both functions within the diocese.  Stuart Nimmo, Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser is responsible for overseeing all aspects of safeguarding for the diocese and leads the safeguarding team.
