Welcome to our RE Scheme pages

“The units of work are excellent and really helping our staff to deliver the curriculum in a way that is interesting while at the same time  ensuring the key questions from the syllabus are covered.   Thank you so much for all your hard work in compiling it
which is
enormously appreciated by everyone here.”

This material has been created to enrich the teaching of RE in schools and we hope that you find the resource both exciting and useful in your work in school. It meets the requirements of the Agreed Syllabuses for all the Local Authorities in the Diocese of Oxford.

  • RE in voluntary controlled schools must be planned in accordance with the requirements of the local authority’s agreed syllabus for RE (LAS).
  • RE in voluntary aided schools is the responsibility of the governors.  It is the strong recommendation of the Diocesan Board of Education that VA schools plan RE based on their local authority’s RE syllabus.

We use an Engage, Enquire, Evaluate and Reflect model of teaching which does not have to progress in a linear fashion, each section can be revisited at any point during a unit of work.   It is important that whenever the children are given the opportunity to reflect on what they have learned, they consider what difference their learning is making to their thinking and acting.

The complete introduction and some samples are available below. The RE scheme is free to all schools in the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education Service Level Agreement.   For all other schools the cost of the scheme is £200.

All the material is in Word format so that you can make adaptations and changes as you wish.  Click here to visit the scheme pages
