School and Community Chaplain, Datchet

,

Required to start January or April 2022

Part-time: 30 hours per week over 4 days during term-time (2 days based at Churchmead School)

Churchmead is a mixed, 11-16 Church of England School welcoming students of all faiths, situated on a 23-acre green belt site in the picturesque village of Datchet near Windsor in Berkshire.

We are a comparatively small secondary school in which every student is known as an individual. Our values of Courage, Compassion and Commitment are at the heart of the school. Churchmead is committed to becoming an outstanding school following our most recent inspection in which all areas were judged as good.

Churchmead Secondary School are seeking to appoint an experienced and creative person to this new and exciting pioneer role.

As befits a new role, there is a certain amount of flexibility in how the job description will emerge, however, there will be a clear emphasis on: pastoral care for pupils, staff and parents; the School and Community Chaplain as a person of lively and authentic Christian faith who relates well with young people communicating timeless Christian truths in new and fresh ways;  and the Chaplain as someone who feels called to help shape the ethos and character of both schools through committed engagement with all areas of school life.

A key part of the work will be building up a team of staff, pupils and volunteers.  The postholder will also work with two local Church of England Primary Schools.

It should also be stated that this position is open to both lay and ordained candidates, and that the postholder does not necessarily have to be affiliated to the Church of England, though an alignment with this tradition would, of course, be important.

Please visit our website, churchmead.org for our application pack. For further details, please contact Mrs D Naji, Churchmead C of E School, Priory Way, Datchet, Berkshire, SL3 9JQ.

Closing Date: Thursday 2 December 2021 at 12pm

The school reserves the right to commence or complete the recruitment process at any time prior to the closing date.

The application form should be accompanied by a brief letter, explaining concisely your main reason for applying for the job.
