This toolkit provides general information to PCCs about employment matters and signposts to useful resources.
It is enriched with new material to reflect any employment law changes. Should you require any further assistance, please contact a member of the HR and Safeguarding Team.

ACAS (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service)
ACAS provides advice and template documents and has a helpline which you can contact for free advice on 0300 123 1100. They are an independent public body offering free, impartial advice to employers, employees and their representatives on:
- Employment rights
- Workplace policies and best practice
- Resolving conflict at work
They also provide a wide range of training and learning resources to support good employment relations.
ACAS run online and in-person training on employment law and workplace good practise. Their courses can help you:
- Improve management skills
- Review HR policies and practises
- Stay up-to-date with legal requirements
- Deal with conflict and improve workplace relationships at work
ACAS also provide a suite of free e-learning courses ideal for managers, team leaders, employees and anyone needing an introduction to:

ACAS hosts free webinars on a variety of employment law and workplace topics. Registration is required as spaces are limited. Past webinars are available to watch at any time, organised into five themes:

Other providers
The HSE (Health & Safety Executive) has advice on health and safety matters, risk assessments and accident reporting.
The Parish Resources site has guidance on employing staff, working with volunteers, safeguarding and health and safety.
The gov.uk website has guidance pages and documents on a number of topics such as payroll, statutory leave, recruiting and contracts of employment. This can often be a good place to start when looking at a HR topic.
The Church of England website has an area related to Safety which signposts resources for PCCs. This includes topics on Human Resources, Safeguarding, Governance and Finance along with many others.
