The Church Buildings Team are able to offer advice and support when you need to carry out works to your church or churchyard. We encourage you to contact the Church Buildings Team at an early stage, especially if you are considering a major project.
The church buildings overview, approved by Diocesan Synod in November 2024, sets out our approach to caring for and maximising the opportunities presented by our 808 church buildings. The churches across the diocese are as diverse as the communities they serve and we are committed to supporting all parishes conserve and adapt their buildings for today’s needs.
Further advice and information about the Church Buildings Team, DAC and the faculty application system can be accessed below. If you cannot find what you need on these pages, please contact the team by emailing churchbuildings@oxford.anglican.org or calling 01865 208270. In the case of an emergency you should contact your Archdeacon directly.
The Church Buildings Team runs online 'Ask Us Anything' sessions every six weeks. These offer an opportunity to ask questions, discuss issues, and get advice in an immediate and informal context. For details of the next session and to receive a joining link, please email us on the address above.
Chair of the Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches
Sadly Abigail Lloyd has decided not to renew her term as DAC Chair, in order to pursue academic and professional research projects. We are enormously grateful for the outstanding contribution she has been making in the role.
This does mean that we are now looking for a new DAC Chair to serve from January 2026. The details are here. Please do consider whether you or someone you know may be appropriate for this important role. The deadline is 9am on Friday 10 October.
