His Majesty The King has approved the appointments of the Revd Canon Dave Bull as the next Bishop of Buckingham and the Revd Canon Mary Gregory as the next Bishop of Reading.
Groups across Beaconsfield worked together to create 8,000 poppies which form a cascade of the remembrance flower for commemorations in the town.
Five new lay ministers from Buckinghamshire were licensed at a special service at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday. Louise Cook, Grace Hunting, Alexander Rees, Geoffrey Strutt and Richard Smith will now be part of the ministry teams at their respective churches.
The King has approved the nomination of The Right Reverend Dr Timothy Wambunya, Vicar of St Paul’s, Slough, in the Diocese of Oxford, for nomination to the Suffragan See of Wolverhampton in the Diocese of Lichfield, in succession to Bishop Clive Gregory, following his retirement.
Death of David Meakin
Celebrations took place this weekend as 15 deacons were ordained at Christ Church Cathedral.
A moving evensong service took place at Christ Church Cathedral on Tuesday when the Revd David Meakin was installed as an Honorary Canon. The honour is in recognition of 35 years’ humble service in the Diocese of Oxford and the wider Church of England.
Nineteen deacons were ordained priests at four services across the diocese this weekend. Services were held at Dorchester Abbey, St Mary’s Amersham, St Giles Church Oxford and Reading Minster.
Set up in the pandemic to ensure exhausted medical staff had a decent meal at the end of a long day, Meals from Marlow has served its 200,000th meal.
