New Congregations Enabler

  • Do you have a passion and energy for mission and church growth within an Anglican context?
  • Do you have experience of growing new worshipping communities through church planting or fresh expressions?

The Oxford Diocese wants to see a thriving mixed ecclesial economy where traditional parish churches flourish alongside new churches and congregations. To help achieve this there is an innovative church planting and fresh expressions programme across the whole Diocese, with a significant investment of £4½ million, aiming to grow 750 new worshipping communities of all shapes and sizes over the next decade. This will be done by creating and facilitating ‘Greenhouses’ (as part of the national Greenhouse Initiative) containing up to ten mission initiatives in each.

To support this ambitious programme, we are seeking to appoint a New Congregations Enabler who will:

  • Encourage the growth of new congregations, through the creation of a minimum of 20 Greenhouses over five years
  • Mentor and coach these new Greenhouses as they emerge and grow, requiring sensitivity to local contexts and emergent initiatives, nurturing them over a two-year period into sustainable worshipping communities.
  • Support the Diocesan-wide work of the New Congregations Programme.
