One of the joys and blessings of this role is the contrast between seeing the big picture and observing the texture of the painting up close. This was particularly the case during the past week when a Growing Faith – Champions Day just off Berkeley Square in central London brought together diocesan senior leaders from across the country. This was a superb opportunity to hear inspirational speakers from across the country and discover how colleagues from other dioceses are embracing the challenge of Growing Faith in churches, schools and households. Most inspirational of all was the testimony and witness provided by the young people present who were able to articulate how their schools and churches had worked together to support them in their journey through faith.

Yesterday, we were delighted to host the visit of Ed Gregory, my fellow DDE from Bath and Wells. As part of his programme, we dropped into the last part of an excellent session for leaders from across the diocese in the superb setting of Warwick Hall, Burford. This was being led by the dynamic duo of Revd Charlie Kerr and Angela Curran-Smith and provided participants with the support and guidance to develop projects that grow faith in our children and young people. This complemented my experience in leafy Mayfair two days ago, as it showed what it is really like to develop and embed our common vision at grassroots.

Till next week.
