Most of my time this week seems to have been spent in the august surroundings of ancient higher education institutions. On Monday, I spent the day with fellow DDEs in Trinity College, Bristol. This was as part of an action learning set facilitated by the Vice-Principal of the college within our Diocesan Leadership Programme. These regular sessions are valuable opportunities for us to challenge and support each other’s learning throughout the programme.

This was followed later in the week with visits to Harris Manchester College, Trinity College and Christ Church College, all constituent colleges within the University of Oxford. I had the privilege of spending an hour or so in the company of the Principal, President and Dean respectively of each college. The focus of our discussions centred on exploring potential synergies and opportunities for working in partnership to the benefit of education across the Diocese of Oxford. At the end of the week, my abiding thoughts centre on how we all on a learning journey and our role as educators to ensure that all of our children and young people have an effective satnav to help them choose the right route for them.

Till next week.
