Finance Officer – Parish Share (18.5 hours per week)

We are seeking a part-time Finance Officer to join our team in this new role to support the allocation and collection of Parish Share. Parish Share is the amount of money each parish is asked to contribute to support the mission and ministry of the Church in the Diocese of Oxford.

The actual hours of work for this role are not fixed and there will be the opportunity for the successful candidate to discuss their preferred working pattern, within normal working hours from Monday – Friday.

We are looking for someone who:

  • is experienced and enthusiastic about data analysis and has advanced level use of Excel;
  • can explain and talk about financial and statistical data to non-financial people in a way that they understand;
  • has a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and can work on their own initiative to meet deadlines;
  • enjoys working as part of a team working towards shared goals.

You will be responsible for collecting, modelling and reporting income from Parish Share; preparing and distributing statements; preparing detailed allocation of Parish Share from Diocese to Deaneries; setting up and running monthly income collection via Direct Debit and providing support to deanery and parish officers and clergy on parish share related queries.

Hours:                  18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE)

Salary scale:       £30,273 per annum (pro rata), actual salary £15,136 per annum
