The Parish Safeguarding Officer Induction will equip learners with an understanding of the role of the Parish Safeguarding Officer and induct them into key working practices and relationships. The Pathway involves one 3-hour 15-minute induction session, pre-session activities, the production of a post-course safeguarding development plan and a follow up support call with a member of the Diocesan Safeguarding Team.
Participants will receive an email two weeks before the training with details of how to access the session, training materials and information regarding the pre-session activities.
By the end of the Parish Safeguarding Officer Induction Pathway PSOs will be able to:
Understand the role, responsibilities, and key working relationships of the Parish Safeguarding Officer, including the Local Authority, Diocesan Safeguarding Officer (DSO) and Parochial Church Council (PCC).
Identify a variety of approaches to raising awareness and improving safeguarding practice.
Evaluate safeguarding information reported by members of the church or community and determining an appropriate response.
Create a development plan for safeguarding practice in their context.
