ODBE Excellence in Schools – Rethinking Excellence in SIAMS

‘How effective is the school’s distinctive Christian vision, established and promoted by leadership at all levels, in enabling pupils and adults to flourish?’

The course is an interactive and reflective session to rethink the concept of Excellence.

Programme outline –

  • A reminder of the SIAMS self-evaluation and inspection processes
  • Delegates will consider the philosophy and rationale behind the new grade for SIAMS, facilitated by specialist SIAMS advisers
  • The session will explore indicators for ‘Excellence’ within the SIAMS Evaluation Schedule
  • Review specific school contexts in which Making a Case for Excellence (MCFE) might be convincing
  • An opportunity to review the national template offered to guide schools to MCFE

By the end of the course participants will have 

  • An up-to-date perspective on the SIAMS inspection process, including MCFE
  • A secure knowledge of the philosophy behind the changes to grades in SIAMS
  • Greater depth of understanding of how and why schools might be awarded ‘Excellent’
  • Considered the SIAMS MCFE template and how this might support making a case
  • Identified next steps in their own school self-evaluation

Target audience: school leaders, including governors and representatives from Federations and MATs

Cost: Schools in Diocesan Service Level Agreement: £55 (+VAT) per delegate
          Schools not in Diocesan Service Level Agreement: £95 (+VAT) per delegate
