Environment Action Delivery Co-ordinator

,

Do you care passionately about the future of our planet and believe that care for God’s creation is the most urgent priority? Have you strong organisational, communication and co-ordination skills? When working as part of a team, are you committed, above all, to effective delivery of plans? If so, we have an exciting opportunity available within the newly formed Environmental Task Group (ETG) staff team.

The ETG is chaired by the Bishop of Reading, and is responsible for leading the diocesan response to the declaration by Diocesan Synod of a Climate Emergency, together with the commitment to work towards reaching carbon zero by 2035, or as soon as possible thereafter. This will be done through the development and implementation of an Environment Action Programme. The Delivery Co-ordinator will work as part of a team to implement the action plan.

Imaginative, ambitious and multi-faceted, the action plan is part of our diocesan Common Vision: to become a Christ-like Church: contemplative, compassionate and courageous, for the sake of God’s world. Key tasks will involve supporting the implementation of activities to achieve the net zero commitment; facilitating the church and community outreach programme including supporting theological education and a network of eco-churches, and being responsible for maintaining and developing the Eco-hub (our key online resource on faith and the environment), and facilitating awareness-raising, education and capacity development.
