Hi I'm Ian. Welcome to Youthblog! I tend to "post" every day about something to do with youth ministry and youth work or at least how I see the world as a youth minister. If you're looking for something specific then you can search in the right hand column of the main page! You should, I hope, find something that'll encourage, challenge or inform you. If you don't then lob in a question by e-mail or by comment, I love having stuff that makes me think and I love any discussion that makes us better youth leaders, workers and/or ministers! There's also a developing Resources page where I hope you'll find some stuff you can use!

A bit about me:

I went to a Christian Youth group as a teenager and they were incredibly patient with me even during my worst "Bozo the wonder-nerd" phases. I forgot to leave and ended up being a leader. Found out this was great fun. Ended up at Bible School in England and Austria and working for Crusaders before taking on a Parish role and then working for the Diocese of Oxford. Along the way (as part of my youth work) I have become a Licensed Youth Minister, a Methodist Local Preacher, a professionally qualified youth-worker as well as a lifeguard, a first aider, a minibus driver, an expedition leader, a food hygiene certificate holder and a mountain bike leader!

I'm married to Joanna and have three wonderfully-chaotic-incredible children, we live in Newbury and share a house with lots of books and some bicycles.
I am currently working out what to do as my mid-life crisis :-)

Working with young people, my faith and cycling are passions I've never got over .... or wanted to. I also enjoy, mountains (especially Skiing on them), books and coffee and, of course being part of the blogosphere! There's 40 more things about me here

But actually I listen to MP3 far more than CD's. Currently I have about 300 tracks on my PDA with stuff like: Meatloaf, The Barenaked Ladies, Tom Waits, Garth Brooks, Tracy Chapman, Soundtracks, Bonnie Tyler, The Alarm, Loads of Eighties stuff (obviously), Kirsty McColl, Feeder, Pulp and Bruce Cockburn. You can set it to play on Random which is what I generally do, only problem is I seem to always walk in step with the beat so my pace varies enormously!
