It includes sparsely populated rural communities, county towns and the commuter belt on the fringes of the capital.

The Bishop of Buckingham, the Rt Revd Dr Alan Wilson, died in February 2024. He had served in the Diocese of Oxford since 1979 and had been Bishop of Buckingham since October 2003. Before that he was rector of Sandhurst and area dean of Sonning.
