The Benefices of West Woodhay with Enborne, Hamstead Marshall, Inkpen and Combe & Kintbury with Avington

We are seeking a colleague to join our ministry team (1 Stipendiary; 2 House-for-Duty; 1 Hon Asst Priest; 1 NSM; 1 LLM and 1 Ordinand) serving seven West Berkshire rural parishes. The person appointed is needed primarily for the West Woodhay Benefice and should

  • be both a committed team player and also keen to foster lay ministry within the parishes
  • have a pastoral heart and be happy to give priority to visiting
  • have an empathy for rural ministry, and be eager to help nurture strong community links between 'church' and 'village'
  • be willing and able to switch rapidly between different communities and liturgies (from BCP Holy Communion, Matins and Evensong to CW Parish Communion and Family Services)
  • be willing to work across all five parishes in the West Woodhay Benefice, and to give support also to the Kintbury Benefice
  • be eager to support and develop our 'outreach' programme, eg Inkpen's 'Service with a Difference' and clergy input to Farm & Country Market
  • have a keen sense of humour
