A personal tale of coping with cancer

Date Added: Monday 28th June 2004

Reid IN A STRANGE LAND
Robin J. Reid
Athena Press
£10.99

While he was on business in Kyrgyzstan, Robin Reid’s ‘slight cough’ was diagnosed as cancer.

He gives a very detailed account of his clinical consultations, radiotherapy treatment (which went wrong) and surgery, including an eventual laryngectomy, and then of his gradual recovery (including regaining his speech with the aid of an implanted valve) and return to work. The author, who lives in Wokingham, ends with some helpful reflections on Christian faith, which has sustained him throughout his illness.
