Worldwide commission meets in Oxford
03 September 2010
ORTHODOX Christians from across the world have descended on Oxford.
Delegates from Serbia, Cyprus, Greece, Georgia, Canada and Australia have travelled to Oxford for the International Theological Anglican Orthodox Commission at Christ Church. The Archbishop of Canterbury was set to lead a session at the conference on Saturday (4 September) and preach at Christ Church on Sunday (5 September).
The Revd Dr Tim Bradshaw, Senior Tutor at Regents College, Oxford, teaches Christian doctrine and is a member of the commission. Speaking between sessions at the event, he said: “We are currently involved in a round of talks on humanity. We’ve just been discussing human freedom and justice and freedom in society.”
The first meeting of the commission took place in 1973 in Oxford. Tim said: “Orthodox Christians like Oxford because of its expertise in the early church fathers.”
