THE BISHOP of Oxford is encouraging well-off pensioners to donate their Winter Fuel Allowance to older people who may be in need.

The Rt Revd John Pritchard who first got involved with the Survivng Winter Appeal last year by donating his own Winter Fuel Allowance, said: “This is an excellent initiative and gives those of us who feel able the opportunity to put the Winter Fuel Allowance to more appropriate use. Through the Oxfordshire Community Foundation, we can divert our payment to people in real need during this cold season, when there is more danger of people being short of the basics. I hope many others will feel the same and join in.”
