Pastoral Care
Reaching Out
A practical guide to pastoral caring
This DVD is an initiative of the Pastoral Care Forum of the Diocese of Oxford. It is offered as a contribution to a key area of Christian mission – to be an accepting, inclusive and loving presence in our communities.
Engaging with human life in all its fullness – deep joy and deep pain - is central to pastoral care. ‘Reaching Out’ is a resource to help individuals and Christian communities reflect on the nature of pastoral care, and to improve their practice. Three pieces of drama depict true-to-life scenarios. Isolation and loneliness, physical ill-health and mental distress, loss and bereavement all feature in these stories. Written discussion materials enable groups and individuals to reflect on these situations and the feelings and thoughts they elicit. Ideas for biblical reflection and study are also offered.
Copies of 'Reaching Out' are available at a cost of £6 each (£5 plus £1 postage and packing). Please complete this reaching_out_order_form and post it with your payment to Helen Keely, Mission in the World, Diocesan Church House, North Hinksey, Oxford, OX2 0NB.
