Spiritual Care and Ageing Across Faiths and Cultures

A one-day workshop
led by

Professor Elizabeth MacKinlay
Director of the Centre for Ageing and Pastoral Studies,
Charles Sturt University, New South Wales, Australia

Wednesday June 15th 2011
School of Health and Social Care
Oxford Brookes University

Health and social care professionals are increasingly required to take a holistic approach to their practice, and to respect their clients’ cultural contexts. This includes aspects of spirituality arising within or outside the main faith traditions. But it is not always clear how best to address these issues. This workshop will explore the notion of spiritual care, especially in the context of work with older adults. It will offer both theoretical ideas and practical experience. It will be useful for health care, social care, and faith practitioners, and others involved in pastoral work with older people.

This workshop is part of the Oxford Diocese Project on Spiritual Care for Older People, and is kindly supported by Oxford Brookes University
