With 284 schools and academies in our Diocese there are a large number of applications for school places each year.  Having applied for a place most parents find that their child is accepted at their preferred school, though there are some differences in the ways in which admissions are dealt with.

All Voluntary Aided schools are their own admissions authorities as are Academies.  These schools set, consult on and determine admission arrangements for themselves.

The Local Authority is the admissions authority for Voluntary Controlled schools and all appeals are handled by that authority.

More information can be found in The School Admission Code (2012).

If, however, your child has not been accepted you may wish to make an admission appeal.
