A Harvest Hymn

Date Added: Monday 10th September 2007

A HARVEST HYMN written by Oxfordshire Farmer, David Greasby.

Sung to the tune:  Repton.

HARVEST TIME

The harvest time is here again,
Throughout this wondrous land,
From seed and soil, through rain and toil,
The tended crops and fruit and stock
Are truly gathered in;
To God our thanks we give.

The season’s path is well defined,
With thoughts and plans anew,
The autumn seeding, winter chill,
The spring response and summer fill
The stores of life abound,
To give us harvest time.

Throughout the world the harvest times
Of differing lands and climes,
Give drought, despair and joy and hope,
May we rejoice, but be aware
The harvest of the world,
Is also our concern.

Let us give thanks from all our farms,
For life and health and food;
May we respond to natures’ wish
And cherish all the countryside,
This lands is ours to care
We share the harvest time.
