First Infants’ School in Oxfordshire to receive Naacemark award
St Peter’s Infants’ School in Alvescot (near Bampton) is the first infant school in Oxfordshire to achieve the Naacemark award for ICT and only the third out of all the schools in the county, The achievement is noteworthy because St Peter’s is a small school of only 52 pupils.
The school spent a year working towards the Naace standard and after a rigorous assessment procedure was judged as having met all the criteria. The assessors commented on the quality of the school’s resources and the use of both software and hardware to teach ICT skills and support children’s learning in subjects across the whole curriculum.
The Headteacher, Mrs Sam King, said: “ICT will, undoubtedly, play a vital role in our children’s lives and we believe that they are entitled to the best possible education to equip them for the future. We have a clear vision for the use of ICT in our school and will continue to strive towards providing the very best education possible and remaining at the forefront of technology.”
“A small infant school such as ours strives hard to maintain a high standard in everything we do and we try to provide the most up to date resources we can,” explains Liz Savage, Chair of Governors. “On behalf of the governors, I am delighted, but not surprised, by this latest award. We have an excellent team at St. Peter’s who work very hard and this award is recognition for all their efforts.”
