The hags are flung out at New College

The election of Canon Spooner to suceed Dr. Sewell as Warden of New College was a foregone conclusion : it is a well deserved recognition of the services that he has rendered to the College since he became a Fellow in 1867. The appointment has given great satisfaction not only to the members of New College, but to the University in general.

Note: Dr Spooner's daughter Rosemary is remembered in the Diocesan Calendar for her work with deaf people in the diocese.
