G3D – Growing together in God’s Love – an Easter Vigil with a difference

Easter Saturday (22nd March) in Dorchester Abbey.

A Vigil is a time of waiting and the Easter Vigil is a time of waiting between the quiet and sadness of Good Friday and Holy Saturday and the dawn of Easter Day. From 8pm on Saturday until dawn on Sunday morning we will hold our ‘Vigil with a difference in the holy and inspiring surroundings of the Abbey. We begin at 8pm (registration from 7.30pm) and until 11pm there will be a series of larger workshops (drama, dance – hopefully even drumming!) interspersed with short acts of worship. These will end at 11pm. Alongside these will be smaller scale activities several of which will continue all night. Also during the night we will show films, offer chill out space, worship space and chat space.

Early in the morning we shall gather for a walk up to Wittenham Clumps to ‘kindle the Easter Fire’ and greet the dawn of the day of Resurrection. Finally we shall breakfast together!

(please note that youngsters under 11 must be accompanied and may not stay between 11pm and 5 am)

This event will be led by the Dorchester Team Clergy.
