“We had four new adults and three children on Back to Church Sunday,” says the Revd Margaret Dimmick.
"Two adults were new, a wedding couple for next summer. This is significant in a church where the congregation average is in the mid 30s. Only one child has come regularly since, with her grandparents. We advertised a lot, especially outside the school where we worship and this led the children to ask to come.
“We were able to run Sunday School that day, as we had seven children instead of the usual one or two. This brought back a young woman whose parents are regular members, who is newly qualified as a Classroom Assistant. She was baptised, grew up in our Church and was confirmed.
“As a result of Back to Church Sunday there are now more Sundays when we have children than not, and we prepare something for them in the service and worksheets/ activities for them to do under parents' guidance during the rest of worship time.”
